After graduating from the prestigious Building Crafts College, funded by the Worshipful Company of Carpenters, in 2012, Oliver spent several years gaining valuable knowledge and experience working at various furniture-making workshops around London before moving back to his home town of Hay-on-Wye to start Cooke & Co.
Drawing inspiration from Scandinavian and mid-20th-century American makers such as George Nakashima, Oliver loves clean, simple lines and allowing pieces to speak for themselves. For him, each part of a piece of furniture should perform a role. He aims to marry form and function in every piece he makes and believes the two are not only not mutually exclusive but rely upon each other when it comes to producing furniture.
